WHAT IS SPECIALTY COFFEE?In Kilimanjaro Specialty Coffees we work according to the following definition, and we strive every day to reach and cover all its extent:
"Specialty coffee is a drink made of quality coffee, it has a distinct flavor and aroma, well above the commonly offered coffee. Specialty coffee grows in a precisely defined area, in special micro-climates with specific heights. It also meets the highest standards as green coffee processing, roasting, storage and preparation. Besides, its cultivation is eco-friendly, it does not harm the environment, does not employ minors, does not require hard labor and promotes equal and ethical conditions for women." |
QUALITY AND TRACEABILITYOur main objective is to guarantee the maximum quality possible of the coffees we offer. All our lots, are carefully analyzed by expert cuppers on several occasions, before and after being selected, imported and stored.
Nowadays, consumers are demanding more information about the origin, forms of production and the history of the coffees they love. We provide complete traceability, covering the whole production chain from the farm to your roastery. |
ETHICAL SOURCINGIn order to have a more effective distribution of the benefits, we negotiate directly with cooperatives, cutting the unnecessary broker or middle man whenever is possible.
We believe that financial benefit of this business, must be shared proportionally only between the people who work, add value and directly participate in the coffee productive chain. We work only with Smallholder Farmer Cooperatives, paying prices that rewards their efforts, respect their costs and encourages their future plans. |
GREEN LOGISTICS
We directly import our coffees from different origins worldwide to Barcelona and Santiago. We work with qualified warehouses that are specialized in the storing and handling green coffee. In addition, our warehouses keep the optimum conditions of humidity and temperature to preserve the organoleptic characteristics of the coffee for longer periods.
All our coffees are packed in "GrainPro" bags, inside of a yute or sisal bags. The "GrainPro" is a plastic bag acting as a hermetic storage system designed to preserve quality, regulate moisture content and to protect coffee from outside influences.
We are aware that climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our generation. That is why in Kilimanjaro Specialty Coffees, we develop efficient logistics processes and we are always trying to minimize the contaminating effects of the means of transport we use.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITYWe believe that good education and social awareness, are essential to improve living conditions of many coffee families in rural communities around the world, some of them, today living on less than USD$ 2 a day.
Through different projects, we will provide training and support to women heads of households to improve education, health, nutrition, general welfare and poverty reduction in their respective families and communities. |
